Report

Most countries have accumulated excess debt due to the coronavirus pandemic, Minister of Finance Samir Sharifov said at today's joint session of the Milli Majlis committees.

Report quotes him as saying the global debt level reaches 100% of the global GDP today.

"We are in quite a stable debt situation. We need to reduce our foreign public debt," he said.

The minister noted that domestic debt is a factor that positively impacts the development of domestic financial markets.

Sharifov said Azerbaijan sees considerable growth in the pharmaceutical market, answering the question about the shortage of drugs for the treatment of oncological diseases.

"Expenses on the treatment of diseases are growing. But again, we see that we haven't reached the desired level. Work is underway to include more diseases to the list of the Compulsory Medical Insurance," the minister added.
