It is necessary to ensure effective and transparent use of budgetary funds allocated for firefighting and fire prevention programs, Maria Jose Feliciano, an auditor of the Supreme Audit Institution of Portugal, said at the annual meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) in Baku.
According to Report, she emphasized the need to create and effectively control proper financial reporting systems.
"The implementation of fire prevention programs should be regularly monitored. To increase effectiveness, it is necessary to regularly evaluate results and, if needed, make changes to the applied measures. It is crucial to regularly conduct training for firefighting specialists and inform them about new technologies," she said.
The auditor noted that to reduce the risk of fires, it is important to implement new safety procedures and standards, as well as regularly update existing ones.
