Number of contactless bank cards in Azerbaijan reaches 9 million 

As of September 1, 2022, about 9 million of the 12.6 million bank cards in Azerbaijan were contactless, the Director-General of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), Farid Osmanov, said at a conference on the topic 'Fintech-ecosystem in Azerbaijan - today and tomorrow', Report informs.

“The number of bank cards has increased by 23% year-on-year, and the number of contactless bank cards has increased by 55%. During the reporting period, the amount of contactless payments increased by 2.7 times and the number by 2.1 times. As a result, the share of non-cash circulation in card payments increased by 12.5 percentage points to 41%,” the director said.
