Nigar Arpadarai: Trillions of dollars needed for green transition

Trillions of US dollars are needed to implement the green transition, the UN High-Level Climate Champion for COP29, Nigar Arpadarai, said during the Baku Climate Week, Report informs.

"There are only a few weeks left until COP29. The global community dealing with climate change issues will actively participate in this event. Climate change is no longer a future threat, but a challenge we face today, and we need to act. Our vision on this issue is based on two key directions: increasing ambitions and claims, as well as strengthening the measures we take in this area. COP29 is not just a financial issue, but also a kind of test to see the effectiveness of the Paris Agreement. We need financial resources to achieve our goals," she noted.

According to Nigar Arpadarai, the green transition should bring benefits not only to large companies but also to small and medium-sized businesses.
