New Secretary General appointed at European Investment Bank

Barbara Balke has been appointed the new Secretary General of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Report informs.
Balke started performing the duties of the EIB Secretary General in January 2023.
According to the bank, former Secretary General Marjut Falkstedt will lead the European Investment Fund (part of the EIB Group).
Barbara Balke worked at EIB for more than 20 years. Her last position at the bank was EIB General Counsel and General Director of the Legal Department.
She qualified as a lawyer in Germany and received a LL.M. from the University of Edinburgh and a Juris Doctor from the University of Bonn.
Before joining the EIB, she practiced as a lawyer and was a member of the bar in Cologne, Germany.
