Kazakhstan reveals exceptions regarding currency export

The ban on the currency export worth over $10,000 from Kazakhstan now doesn’t apply to the operations of the National Bank and organizations included in its structure, according to an addendum to the decree of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev dated March 14, 2022 “On measures to ensure financial stability of Kazakhstan,” Report informs referring to Interfax.

The ban doesn’t apply to the export of refined gold obtained after processing of foreign raw materials imported into Kazakhstan from the territory of a state that is not a member of the EAEU.

It is not prohibited to export unfit for circulation foreign currency in cash by second-tier banks.

In March, the president of Kazakhstan, in order to protect the national interests of the country and ensure financial stability, signed a decree prohibiting the export from the country of foreign currency exceeding the equivalent of $10,000 and gold bars of refined gold of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 grams and investment gold and silver coins issued by the National Bank, as well as refined gold in the amount of over 100 grams.
