Baku. 9 January. REPORT.AZ/ US-dollar's position in 2018 will weak despite the probability of an increase in the discount rate by the US Federal Reserve System (FRS) for 4 times this year.
Report informs referring to Bloomberg, the chief economist of the investment bank Goldman Sachs Jan Hatzius said in his interview with CNBC.
"The dollar will continue to hold weak positions relative to major currencies, and even currencies of some developing countries. Under normal conditions, as the Fed rates rise, US-dollar should strengthen. But the dollar loses its appeal, as other central banks are synchronously taking the same steps", said Hatzius.
Notably, despite increase in the Fed rate 3 times in 2017, and approval of the tax reform, US-dollar has fallen in price by 15% against its main rival of Euro.
