Forecast: Russia will face labor force shortage

Baku. 29 May. REPORT.AZ/ Number of Russian economically active population will drop by 1 mln people, able-bodied population by 3 mln people until 2020.

Report informs citing Expert.ru, macroeconomic forecasts of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development declares developed regarding amendments to 2017 budget.

According to the document, number of labor force will drop to 71.7 mln in 2020 from 72.7 mln in 2016. Number of able-bodied population will drop to 80.6 mln people from 83.7 mln in the mentioned period.

Andrei Koptelev, Director of Synergy University Economic Research Center, believes that many countries where economically active population declining, have begun to attract foreign professionals. The countries facilitated visa procedure for these persons. Way out for Russia is attracting labor migrants from former Soviet republics: "Because these people are the ones closest in terms of culture and mentality and know the Russian language".
