The Eurozone countries' GDP grew by 1.2% year-on-year and by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of this year, according to preliminary estimates, Report informs referring to the European statistical agency Eurostat.
Analysts surveyed by the Trading Economics website predicted annual growth of the Eurozone economy by 1%, and quarterly growth by 0.2%. In the fourth quarter, the Eurozone GDP grew by 1.2% year-on-year and by 0.2% quarter-on-quarter.
The combined GDP of the 27 EU countries grew by 1.4% year-on-year and by 0.3% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter, according to preliminary estimates.
The previous quarter, the annual figure also grew by 1.4%, and the quarterly figure grew by 0.4%.
In quarterly terms, the most significant economic growth was observed in Ireland (+3.2%), as well as in Spain and Lithuania (+0.6% each), while a decline was recorded only in Hungary (-0.2%).
