Dollar in Russia drops to 55 RUB for first time in last 9 months

Baku. 25 January. REPORT.AZ/ Exchange rate of US-dollar at Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange has fallen below 56 rubles for the first time since April 25, 2017.

Report informs citing the Russian media, the reason is sharp decline in the US currency at the global level.

Notably, after the announcement by US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, the dollar has lost a record value over the past three years. American minister emphasized the usefulness of the cheap dollar to the economy of the country.

Thus, decline in U.S. dollar in Russia is also due to the fact that the price of Brent oil in the world markets exceeded $ 71 / bbl. Notably, after the economic crisis of 2014 the exchange rate of U.S. dollar in the neighboring country was 55.72 rubles which was the lowest price.

Analytical Group of Report News Agency not rules out that US-dollar rate can fall to 54 rubles in Russia.
