CBA official: Azerbaijan will not impose any restrictions on cash payments

Although methods of non-cash payment are developing in Azerbaijan, no restrictions will be imposed on cash payments, Anar Dadashov, Head of Banking and Treasury Operations Department at the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, said at the seminar themed 'Organization of cash circulation-2023'.

"A policy program called the Eurosystem cash strategy is being prepared by the European Central Bank. According to this strategy, despite the availability of digital payment methods, cash will continue to be a means of payment. According to the survey conducted by the European Central Bank among the population, citizens supported the retention of cash as the main means of payment," Dadashov said.

According to him, after the use of payment cards in Azerbaijan has expanded, the use of cash is decreasing.
