Countries can conduct joint audits of transboundary rivers to assess their ecological state, Azim Abbasov, Head of Department at the Chamber of Accounts, said.
According to Report, speaking at the annual meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA) of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI) held in Baku, Abbasov emphasized the importance of introducing a carbon tax to reduce the impact of climate change.
Abbasov stated, "To minimize the risks of natural disasters, it is crucial to evaluate hazards, consider geographical location and climatic conditions, and create risk maps. This requires early warning systems and various tools such as applications, SMS messages, alert systems, and media outlets that can help inform people and organizations in advance."
