Azerbaijan’s securities market declines by 8%

In 2022, transactions worth 15.563 billion manats ($9.15 billion) were carried out in the securities market of Azerbaijan, 7.8% less than last year, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

Of this, 8.312 billion manats ($4.89 billion) were formed in the primary market (-0.5%), and 7.251 billion manats ($4.27 billion) were formed in the secondary market (-15%).

Some 11,018 (-12.3%) deals were concluded in the securities market during the reporting period, with the primary market accounting for 2,156 deals (-20.2%) and the secondary market for 8,862 (-10.2%).

Government securities dropped 14.1% to 8.313 billion manats ($4.89 billion) or 53.4% of transactions carried out in 2022, corporate securities fell by 8.6% to 2.190 billion manats ($1.29 billion) or 14.1%, and repo operations slipped 29.7% to 5.060 billion manats ($2.98 billion) or 32.5%.

Over the past year, 2,506 or 22.7% of the deals were concluded on government securities (+13.6%), 4,400 or 39.9% on corporate securities (-27.6%), and 4,112 or 37.3% on repo operations (-4%).
