Azerbaijan-based banks see decline in assets

As of April 1, 2019, the assets of Azerbaijan-based banks’ assets amounted to AZN 29,846,900,000, down 0.35% in comparison to a month earlier, up 6.95% by contrast to a year ago, Report informs citing the Financial Markets Supervisory Authority (FIMSA).

The loans issued to customers amounted to AZN 11,231,200,000 of this amount. The loan portfolio extended by 17.05%, while the share of loans in assets rose from 34.4% to 37.6%.

In the reporting period, the liabilities grew by 6.2% to AZN 25,533,200,000 with the deposit portfolio risen by 11.1% to AZN 18,572,000,000. Individuals accounted for AZN 8,253,500,000, while legal entities made up AZN 10,318,500,000. Personal savings rose by 8.9%, while corporate funds in the banks grew by 12.9%.

The liabilities of the banks to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) dropped by 33.65% to AZN 331.1 million.

Total capital of the sector rose by 11.4% to AZN 4,313,700,000 throughout the year.
