ADB: CAREC’s critical mineral reserves create opportunities for global energy production

The reserves of critical minerals in the CAREC region create opportunities for global energy production, Director General of the Regional Department for Central and West Asia of the ADB, Eugene Zhukov said at the event “Financing Greener Value Chains in the CAREC Region” within the annual meeting of the ADB, which is taking place in the capital of Georgia, according to Report’s correspondent from Tbilisi.

“It is important to decarbonize the supply chain in the CAREC region - CAREC countries, especially Kazakhstan and the PRC, have high levels of CO2 emissions, and this has negative consequences. However, almost all countries have critical mineral reserves, this represents a huge opportunity for the CAREC region to diversify the global energy production,” he noted.
