Baku International Book Fair to be held annually

A press conference was held on the 7th Baku International Book Fair 2021 slated for October 6-10, Report informs.

Akif Maarifli, Head of the Book Circulation and Publishing Department of the Ministry of Culture, Farid Mammadli, General Director of Caspian Event Organizers (CEO), and Bahruz Hidayatzadeh, Executive Director of Caspian Event Organizers (CEO) spoke at the press conference.

Akif Maarifli said that the book exhibition will traditionally be held every year:

“The format of this exhibition is different from others. The decree of President Ilham Aliyev on the ‘Year of Nizami Ganjavi’ states that the Baku Book Fair is dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi. The goal is to convey Nizami Ganjavi's greatness to the youth. It is the largest exhibition in the region in terms of format. The event is attended by 43 foreign companies and more than 100 local publishing houses. We have paid special attention to signature days at the exhibition. There is also an innovation here, presentations based on Nizami Ganjavi's motives will be performed at the Puppet Theater. There will be a presentation of Nizami Ganjavi's books published in 2021. This exhibition used to be held every two years.”

Bahruz Hidayatzade thanked the Ministry of Culture for the huge work done and organization of the exhibition:

“More than 10 international exhibitions are organized every year. Today is a great pleasure for us, active organizational work began in June. We did our best to make this event different for all book lovers. Any reader who comes there during the five days will be able to take part in interesting presentations. They will have the opportunity to meet famous celebrities. Thousands of books will be presented. There will be various events in the lobby of the exhibition hall. Every half and an hour, buses will take people from the Elmlar Akademiyasi and Koroglu metro stations to the exhibition.”

As many as 165 companies from 13 countries will take part in the 5-day fair.
