Volume of oil transported via BTC up by over 6%

In January-July this year, 23,076,500 tons of oil was transported via Azerbaijan's main oil pipelines, 10.2% more than in the same period last year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

Of this, 76.3% or 17,615,000 tons were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, 6.4% more than in the same period of 2022.

During the period, 14,706,300 tons of transit oil (83.5%) were transported via the pipeline, 2,908,700 tons (16.5%) of which were Turkmen and Kazakh oils.

The BTC pipeline currently carries mainly oil from Azerbaijan from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block and condensate from the Shah Deniz field. In addition, other volumes of crude oil and condensate, including oil from Turkmenistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, are transported through the BTC.

Shareholders of BTC Co: BP (30.1%); AzBTC (25%); MOL (8.9%); Equinor (8.71%); TPAO (6.53%); Eni (5%); Total (5%), ITOCU (3.4%); INPEKS (2.5%), ExxonMobil (2.5%) and ONGC (BTC) Limited (2.36%).
