TPAO: Natural gas will be used in the medium and long term

In the world energy market, natural gas will still be used in the medium and long term, Melih Han Bilgin, president and CEO of Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), said at the Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.

According to him, this energy resource remains one of the important elements for the complete transition to renewable energy: “In order to ensure a complete transition, joint coordinated action of governments and companies, application of smart technologies and additional investments are crucial.”

Bilgin said that the natural gas produced from the fields discovered by Türkiye in the Black Sea will lead to a decrease in the share of imported gas in domestic consumption: “Today, 99% of Türkiye's demand for natural gas is met by imports. We will direct the natural gas produced from here to meet the domestic demand of the country. However, we also intend to export the natural gas produced from these fields to European countries.”
