The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) may transport more than 9.5 billion cubic meters of gas to Italy this year, 2.5 times higher than the previous year, Luca Schieppati, TAP's Managing Director, said at "The Young Hope" event held in Italy, Report informs.
"The matter is about the fact that 13% of the country's demand for gas was met by Azerbaijan over the past year," he added.
Schieppati noted that since the beginning of commercial operations, TAP has transported over 16 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, of which over 13.5 billion cubic meters have gone to Italy.
According to him, TAP has the potential to transport hydrogen in the future, and the pipeline's expansion could contribute to Italy's and Europe's climate ambitions.
