STAR Refinery increases crude oil imports by more than 24%

STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported 985,433 tons of crude oil in December 2023 (22.69% of total crude oil imports), up 192,992 tons, or 24.36%, from the previous year, Report informs, referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

In December 2023, the refineries in Türkiye imported 2,902,840 tons of crude oil, 635,814 tons or 28.05%, more than a year earlier.

STAR Refinery was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.

The plant can process 12 million tons of Urals, Azeri Light, and Kirkuk types of crude oil per year. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
