STAR Refinery increases crude oil imports by 11%

STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, imported 819,615 tons of crude oil in February 2023 (25.41% of total crude oil imports), down 19,247 tons, or 2.3%, from the previous year, Report informs referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).
During January-February of this year, STAR Oil Refinery imported 1,786,344 tons of crude oil, 180,037 tons, or 11.2%, more than in January-February 2022.
In February 2023, the refineries in Türkiye imported 2,017,438 tons of crude oil, 328,051 tons, or 14%, less than a year earlier.
In the first two months of 2023, total crude oil imports by the refineries in this country made up 4,273,284 tons, 681,957 tons, or 13.8%, less than a year earlier.
STAR was inaugurated on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. In September 2019, the plant started working at full capacity.
The plant can process 10 million tons of crude oil per year. It is possible to process Urals, Azeri Light and Kirkuk types of oil at the enterprise. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquid petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
