STAR Refinery increases crude oil imports by 18%

STAR Refinery, an asset of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Turkiye, imported 1,033,140 tons of crude oil in November 2022 (28.75% of total crude oil imports), up 157,430 tons or 18% from the previous year, Report informs referring to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

In November 2021, the refinery imported 875,584 tons of crude oil.

STAR Refinery was launched on October 19, 2018. The foundation of the plant was laid on October 5, 2011. STAR has Turkiye's first Strategic Investment Promotion Document. In September 2019, the plant began operating at full capacity.

The plant has a refining capacity of 10 million tons of crude oil per year. The plant can process Urals, Azeri Light, and Kirkuk oils. Its main products are diesel fuel (4.8 million tons), jet fuel, naphtha (1.6 million tons), liquefied petroleum gas, mixed xylene, and petroleum coke.
