SOCAR Turkey starts cooperation with Siemens

SOCAR Turkey, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Turkey, and Siemens Turkey have signed an agreement on the supply of basic energy distribution infrastructure.

Under the agreement, in the next five years, Siemens Turkey will undertake to supply STAR Oil Refinery, SOCAR Depolama, and Petkim, which operate under SOCAR Turkey's Oil Refining and Petrochemical Cooperation, with installations and upgrade all energy distribution infrastructure of petrochemical holding with SCADA systems, Report informs.

The signing ceremony took place at SOCAR Turkey's office in Aliaga settlement in Izmir.

Anar Mammadov, President of SOCAR Turkey's Oil Refining and Petrochemical Business Department and CEO of Petkim, said the cooperation would make digital transformation efforts involving all groups of companies more effective. He said that with the infrastructure support provided by Siemens in digitalization, they will make efforts to strengthen their activities.

Mammadov underlined that the digital transformation will continue to be one of the most important sectors in the future with new investments and projects.

SOCAR Turkey was established in late 2006. The company was established in Turkey to implement projects in the oil refining and petro-chemistry sector, to trade in natural gas. SOCAR Turkey owns a stake (51%) in Turkey's Petkim Petrokimya Holding.

So far, SOCAR has invested $16.5 billion in Turkey and is negotiating new investments. The company plans to expand its activities in Turkey, primarily in the petrochemical and gas sectors.
