Ruslan Aliyev: Wildfire in Shabran causes interruptions in gas supply to nearly thousand consumers

Due to the forest fire in Shabran, the gas supply has been stopped in 9 villages, Ruslan Aliyev, General Director of Azerigaz Production Union of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) told the Open Door action held today.

"Currently, about a thousand subscribers are without gas," he said, as quoted by Report.

As the fire is still ongoing, the gas supply to the villages of Dag Biliji, Mumlu, Zohramli, Pirabadil, Sumaga, Gazmalar, Koragan, Zeyva and Kirvar has not been restored.

Aliyev said that there was no major damage to the gas industry, it was rather minor: "Investigation is being ongoing, the gas carrier lines are being inspected."

He noted that once the fire is extinguished and the gas is turned on, additional information will be given to the public about the extent of the initial damage.

A state of emergency was declared in the Shabran district due to the fire on August 15.
