The fixed tariff level on electricity won't exceed 1 manat ($0.59) per month for each subscriber in Azerbaijan, Orkhan Zeynalov, Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister, said at today's plenary meeting of the extraordinary session of parliament, Report informs.
According to Zeynalov, the main purpose of applying the fixed tariff is to increase the quality of service and distribute costs more fairly among consumers: "This is achieved not through increasing tariffs, but through structuring according to the nature of costs incurred for the existing consumption tariff."
The deputy minister further noted that this innovation is enshrined in the “Bill on Electric Power Industry."
"It will create a certain economic basis for reducing the tariff burden, albeit slightly, for consumers who pay electricity bills every month. Regarding the financial capacity of the fixed tariff, according to our calculations, the actual costs considered for this purpose are calculated to be less than 2% of the total costs. The fixed tariff level will not exceed 1 manat per month for each subscriber," he stated.
