World oil prices changed slightly on Wednesday morning, Report informs.
The price of Brent crude June futures rose by 0.07% to $106.71 per barrel, May futures of WTI fell by 0.16% to $101.8.
On the one hand, the strengthening of the US dollar has negatively affected oil prices, the exchange rate of which is growing in the morning against other major world currencies, such as the euro or the yen, and its index (the exchange rate against a basket of currencies of six countries - the main US trading partners) has increased by 0.1%, up to 99.58 points.
At the same time, oil, like other exchange commodities, contracts for which are calculated in dollars, becomes less accessible to holders of other foreign currencies.
On the other hand, investors continue to monitor the tightening of anti-Russian sanctions by many countries, which may entail the risk of interruptions in oil supplies to the world market, which leads to higher prices. Thus, the decision to introduce an additional package of radical sanctions measures was announced by the official representative of the American administration, Jen Psaki.
The Wall Street Journal quotes Psaki as saying that the sanctions are aimed at further economic, financial and technological isolation of Russia from the rest of the world.
