Nuclear energy is essential to ensure that countries can meet the ever-increasing demand for electricity in the future, according to Péter Szijjártó, Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

According to Report, speaking at the opening of the Baku Energy Forum, Szijjártó emphasized the importance of nuclear power in addressing the world's energy needs.

"Our common goal should be to move away from political debates when it comes to energy supplies," stated the minister.

Szijjártó emphasized that in Europe great attention is paid to diversification. "The problem is that we have different definitions of diversification. Ours is that we have more sources. And we do not agree with the definition that implies replacing existing ones with others. Diversification means increasing the number of sources. That is why we have appealed to the European Union to increase the capacity of the pipeline network in Southeast Europe, so that we can purchase more gas from Azerbaijan, Qatar, Türkiye, with which we either already have contracts or contracts are in preparation," he said.

According to the minister, the world is full of conflicts that increase the risk of its division into blocs.

"We would not want this to be repeated. So let's return to common sense," the minister noted, adding that energy supply should be viewed as a physical necessity, not a matter of ideology or philosophy.
