The Ministry of Energy in Moldova has set in motion the procedure to introduce a heightened state of alert in the country's natural gas market. This move comes in response to a proposal from the Romanian gas transmission system operator Vestmoldtransgaz, which manages the Iași-Ungheni-Chișinău pipeline connecting Romania and Moldova.
Vestmoldtransgaz's recommendation is based on information received from the Ukrainian gas transmission system operator regarding the situation at the Sudzha gas metering station in Russia.
In a swift response, Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov convened a meeting with companies in the gas industry to assess the current state of affairs in the energy sector. The discussions focused on identifying potential risks and establishing a comprehensive risk management strategy. <
"Based on the data provided by the companies, it has been determined that the conditions for a heightened alert regime in the natural gas market have been met," the ministry stated.
Moldova's Commission for Emergency Situations is set to review the proposals put forth by the Ministry of Energy.
