Minister: Export of Caspian hydrocarbon resources to foreign markets turned from myth into reality thanks to Heydar Aliyev

Today, Azerbaijan Thermal Power Station (HPS) accounts for 15% of the electricity produced in Azerbaijan, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said at the event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev titled "National leader Heydar Aliyev is the author of Azerbaijan's independent energy policy", Report informs.

According to Shahbazov, thanks to Heydar Aliyev, extracting hydrocarbon reserves of the Caspian Sea and exporting to foreign markets turned from myth to reality: " During the Soviet period, in addition to the largest thermal power plant in the Caucasus - Azerbaijan TPP, commissioning of 6 power stations with a total capacity of more than 3,000 MW and 17 substations of various voltages, and during the years of independence, power stations and 6 substations with a capacity of 620 MW, as well as the development of the oil industry were possible thanks to Heydar Aliyev.

"Thanks to the will and determination of national leader Heydar Aliyev, the first long-term international agreement in the history of Azerbaijan's oil industry - the Contract of the Century - was signed. The joint development of Caspian hydrocarbon resources with global oil companies and their export to foreign markets has turned from myth into a reality. Heydar Aliyev, with his peculiar wisdom, was aware that Azerbaijan's independence, its political and economic independence on any state, and the ability of our country, located in a rather tense geopolitical region, to maintain a balanced foreign policy course with respect to the national interests of our people, despite all external threats, lies through the diversification of energy routes."

The minister emphasized that the Baku-Supsa, and Baku-Tbilisi-Jeyhan pipelines are the masterpieces of Heydar Aliyev who showed great determination in their creation.
