Against the backdrop of all-out hostilities conducted by Russia in Ukraine, Lithuania will not receive Russian gas, oil, and electricity from May 22, Report informs, citing UNIAN.
"This is an expression of our solidarity with warring Ukraine; we cannot allow the Russian war machine to be financed with our money," Lithuanian Energy Minister Dainius Kreivys said.
According to him, the country will achieve full energy independence after the successful completion of synchronization, and it will cover its electricity needs at the expense of its own green energy and become an exporting state.
Lithuania receives gas from the US through the LNG terminal in Klaipeda. The country consumes its own electricity and also imports it from EU countries.
