GHGSat official: Emission sources show periodic patterns

One of the key lessons learned as a technology provider is that emission sources tend to exhibit periodic behavior, Ryan Mattson, Vice President of Oil and Gas at the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring Service (GHGSat), said during the second day of Baku Climate Action Week 2025 (BCAW2025), Report informs.

"The public sometimes assumes that once a well is drilled and production begins, everything remains stable-but that's not the case. Production fluctuates due to changes in equipment loading, pressure, and operational conditions. That's why regular monitoring is essential. One of our biggest challenges as a technology provider is proving that the technology works as we claim. But when partners say, ‘Yes, we've run the program with you, and this proves how the technology functions," it provides strong support for continuing the work," he noted.
