The demand for pumping Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transmission system on May 16 fell by more than a quarter compared to May 15, to 46.8 million cubic meters, Report informs referring to the Operator of the Gas Transmission System of Ukraine LLC (OGTSU).
Since May 11, Ukraine has stopped receiving gas for transit through the Sohranivka gas measuring station, citing the fact that it is under the control of Russian forces. As a result, there was only one entrance left for gas transit to Europe - "Sudzha" gas measuring station. Gazprom stated that transferring all volumes to Sudzha is technologically impossible as the company fulfills all obligations to European consumers, and transit services are fully paid.
As a result, the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine has sharply decreased since May 11, while since the beginning of the month it has been at a level above 90 million cubic meters per day. The application for pumping through the Sudzha station, according to the OGTSU, fell to 46.8 million cubic meters as of May 16, and on May 15, the specified application was 64.7 million cubic meters. The application through the Sohranivka remains at zero. On May 15, the operator again rejected Gazprom's application for pumping through this station, the Russian company reported.
