The Black Sea natural gas production project has entered a critical phase and is now one step closer to its goal, Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez tweeted, sharing a publication of the Turkish oil company Turkiye Petrolleri (TPAO), which is developing the field, Report informs.
“We have left another critical phase in the development of Black Sea gas behind us and are one step closer to our goal. The ship that will lay the pipes on the seabed left the Dardanelles today and headed for Filyos,” he wrote.
In turn, TPAO in its publication notes that the Castoro 10 vessel, operated by the Italian company Saipem, arrived in Turkiye to participate in the Sakarya gas field development project. The vessel will carry out laying on the seabed and installation of pipes through which natural gas produced at the field will be transported to the shore.
Alparslan Bayraktar, deputy minister of energy and natural resources of Turkiye, said at the Baku Energy Forum that gas will be first produced at the field in 2023, and in 2026 TPAO plans to reach the production plateau at Sakarya.
