Expert: Green energy could be the cornerstone of Azerbaijan–Peru cooperation

Azerbaijan and Peru have significant potential to establish cooperation in the field of renewable energy, Carlos Aquino Rodríguez, an expert on Asian economies at the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM) in Peru, told Report.

Rodríguez highlighted the strong opportunities for bilateral collaboration, particularly in the energy sector.

“Like Azerbaijan, Peru is rich in oil and natural gas. Azerbaijan is developing at an impressive pace and is wisely leveraging its resources for export, which draws both interest and respect. The rapid development of modern infrastructure in Azerbaijan is also remarkable — we have much to learn from your experience," he noted.

Rodríguez emphasized that in the face of growing global competition in the energy sector, both countries share common interests, and protecting these interests requires coordinated efforts.

He also underlined the potential for collaboration in the green energy sector. "Peru already operates solar, wind, and hydroelectric power stations. However, I believe Azerbaijan has made greater strides in renewable energy, which could serve as a solid foundation for fruitful cooperation," he concluded.
