EU countries post increase in gas imports from Azerbaijan in January-August

EU countries - Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria - increased their gas imports from Azerbaijan by 2.4% in January-August 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching 330,264 terajoules (TJ), Report informs referring to the European Union's statistical office (Eurostat).

The value of gas imported from Azerbaijan to EU countries during the reporting period amounted to 2.768 billion euros (a 1.5-fold decrease year-on-year).

In August, EU countries reduced gas imports from Azerbaijan by 19.4% to 32,499 TJ, spending 284.552 million euros on these imports (a 13.1% decrease from August 2023).

According to Eurostat, in 2023, EU countries imported 492,900 TJ of natural gas from Azerbaijan (a 2.5% increase) worth 6.2 billion euros (a 2.5-fold decrease year-on-year).
