Parviz Shahbazov: Oil production fell by 8.2% in Azerbaijan last year

Under the OPEC + restrictions, Azerbaijan's oil production decreased by 8.2% in 2020. But at the same time, gas extraction has risen, and in particular, gas exports increased by 16.9% up to 13.8 billion cubic meters, Report informs, citing Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov.

Speaking at a video conference chaired by President Ilham Aliyev on the results of 2020, the minister said the Southern Gas Corridor was the main reason for this increase: "The first commercial gas was transported to Europe via the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline on December 31, 2020. Once again, it has shown that, Mr. President, all the initiatives you put forward are becoming a reality. At present, 10.5 million cubic meters of gas daily are exported to Italy, 2 million cubic meters to Greece, and 1 million cubic meters to Bulgaria."
