Colin Allan: Jabrayil solar plant in line with BP’s low-carbon energy strategy

The construction of a solar power plant, which will be carried out by the British company BP in the liberated territories, in Jabrayil will provide electricity to the company's enterprises in Absheron, BP Vice President for Finance in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkiye Colin Allan said at the conference on "Green transformation in Azerbaijan: Sustainable Development Goals," Report informs.

He noted that this will seriously contribute to the green transition. Thus, thanks to this, it will be possible to reduce the level of emissions at the company’s installations by 11 percent.

He added that the transition to resilient hydrocarbons, which implies a transition to low-carbon energy and a corresponding reduction in oil and gas production, is one of BP’s strategic goals.

BP has two large offshore projects for oil and gas production in Azerbaijan, said Allan.

Another important issue is attracting investment in a green future and alternative energy. He said that oil and gas priorities are changing, and Azerbaijan has every opportunity to follow them.
