China, Finland interacting on issue of emergency on Balticconnector

China and Finland are cooperating on the issue of the emergency on the Balticconnector gas pipeline, said spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, commenting on reports of the possible involvement of a Hong Kong ship in damage to the gas pipeline, Report informs referring to foreign media.

She noted that at the time of the emergency the ship did not record any anomalies due to poor sea conditions.

“We hope that the relevant parties can establish the facts as soon as possible,” she said, noting that she hopes for an objective investigation.

The Finnish Central Criminal Police said on October 20 that the investigation into the damage to the gas pipeline between Finland and Estonia was concentrated on the role of the Hong Kong-flagged vessel Newnew Polar Bear.
