The transfer of gas payments into rubles will require a change in the contract with the Russian operator, which requires the consent of both parties, according to the Ministry of Energy of Bulgaria, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia would consider non-fulfillment of obligations under gas contracts by unfriendly countries if they do not pay in rubles from April 1.
"Bulgargaz, a shareholder of the Bulgarian Energy Holding structure, has not received a letter with such a request. If such a letter is received at the Ministry of Energy of Bulgaria, this will require a change in the contract, which requires the consent of both parties," the ministry explained.
"The Bulgarian government believes that the response to this request of Russian President Vladimir Putin should be unified at the pan-European level," the ministry stressed.
