Bayramov: If French side was sure of their innocence, they could investigate

Before declaring two employees of the French embassy in Azerbaijan as persona non grata, a protest note was sent to the French embassy, and the need to investigate the issues was emphasized, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, said at the year-end press conference, Report informs.

He said that if the French side was sure of their innocence, they could have conducted an investigation: "However, they did not go for it and the ambassador was invited to the MFA, and the protest was reported to the ambassador."

"The French MFA summoned Azerbaijani Ambassador Leyla Abdullayeva without revealing any reason, and the decision regarding two Azerbaijani diplomats was presented to her. But there is a big difference between the steps taken by Azerbaijan and France. We spoke with evidence," he said.
