Azerenergy reduces electricity production by over 7%

Azerenergy OJSC generated 9.9 billion kWh of electricity in January-May 2024, down 766.8 million kWh, or 7.2%, from the previous year, Report informs, citing the Energy Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Of this, 8.789 billion kWh was generated in the Thermal Power Plants (TPP) and 1.111 billion kWh in the Hydropower Plants (HPPs), down 12.6% and up 1.8 times, respectively, from the same period in 2023.

During the reporting period, the State Energy Agency of Nakhchivan AR produced 177.3 million kWh of electricity, showing a 1.3 million kWh, or 0.73%, growth in comparison with the first five months of 2023. Of this, 73.9 million kWh (-32.1%) was produced in the TPPs, 79.2 million kWh (+1.8 times) in WPPs and 24.2 million kWh in Solar Power Plants (SPP).

The HPPs on Azerishig OJSC produced 19.2 million kWh (-5.4%), while independent power plants produced 1.134 million kWh (+10.9%).
