The total technical potential of renewable energy sources in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation and in Nakhchivan is 15 GW, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said at a special session in Nakhchivan as part of the Baku Energy Week, Report informs.
“As many as 11 small hydropower plants with a capacity of 53.6 MW have been restored in the liberated territories. Currently, 7 such plants with a capacity of 70.5 MW are being built in East Zangazur. This year, it is planned to begin construction of another 9 plants with a total capacity of 76.8 MW,” he said.
“At the same time, work is underway to attract private investment in the restoration of the plants, and an investment competition has been announced for this purpose. The Shafag solar power plant with a capacity of 240 MW in Jabrayil, the Khudafarin and Giz Galasi hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 140 MW on the Araz River will also contribute to green development of our country,” he noted.
