Azerbaijan tops Georgia's natural gas suppliers

Georgia imported 761 million cubic meters of natural gas worth $118.4 million from Azerbaijan during the first five months of 2024, Report informs with reference to the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

According to GeoStat, this is a 35% decrease in value and a 14% decline in volume compared to the same period in 2023.

Despite the decline, Azerbaijan remains the top natural gas exporter to Georgia for the reporting period.

Over the course of five months, Georgia purchased a total of 1.131 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth $216 million from abroad, marking a 19% decrease in value and a 6% decrease in volume year-on-year.

Along with Azerbaijan, Georgia imported natural gas from several other countries, including Russia (370 million cubic meters worth $97.5 million), Iran (22,540 cubic meters worth $36,800), the UK (10 cubic meters worth $15,140), Spain (430 cubic meters worth $3,390).
