Azerbaijan’s gas supply coverage level is approaching 97%, making it the world leader in this domain, Azer Mammadov, the head of SOCAR's Azerigas Production Union, said at the first International Caspian Gas Industry Forum in Baku, Report informs.
"Azerbaijan surpasses countries like the Netherlands, Georgia, and Italy in this regard," Mammadov noted.
"Today, the gas distribution network of Azerigas spans over 73,000 kilometers, serving nearly 2.6 million subscribers. Gas supply coverage is progressing rapidly across the country. However, one of the main challenges for Azerigas is its outdated infrastructure. Some pipelines are over 70 years old. While these pipelines need to be replaced, they are still operational,” he added.
