Methanol production in Azerbaijan rises over 24% last year

Azerbaijan produced 476,600 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) in 2020, up 24,4 % from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

4,200 tons of finished products were manufactured as of January 1, 2021.

SOCAR's Methanol Plant produces methanol in Garadagh. The enterprise has been operational since 2013, with SOCAR Methanol LLC taking over its management in November 2016. Since October 2018, it has been incorporated into SOCAR's structure and is currently operating as the SOCAR Methanol Plant. Nearly 400 people are employed at the factory, which has an annual production capacity of 650,000-700,000 tons.
