Anastasia Isaenko: Carbon Limits developed MIST project thanks to co-op with SOCAR

The MIST (Methane Inventory Systematic Tool) project by Carbon Limits was created based on collaboration with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Carbon Limits' chief advisor Anastasia Isaenko said at a panel discussion on the third day of Baku Climate Action Week, Report informs.

According to Isaenko, MIST is actively used in Central Asia and is a free tool for methane emissions management, available to all oil and gas companies.

"Carbon Limits has been working in Central Asia for several years, collaborating with various stakeholders, including governments and national oil and gas companies. The MIST project was developed to help these companies manage methane emissions more effectively. It all started with our work with SOCAR about three years ago when we realized the need to create a tool that would be user-friendly and help conduct inventories at the emission source level. This is important for accurate emission assessment and selection of appropriate technologies for their reduction," Isaenko noted.

She also emphasized that MIST was initially conceived as a tool for methane inventory but over time evolved into a full-fledged emission management system that allows companies not only to identify and quantify emission sources but also to develop strategies for their reduction.
