Ammayev: Green energy - important area of ​​Azerbaijan’s activity

Azerbaijan pays special attention to the fight against climate change and sustainable development, Deputy Director of State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources (under the Ministry of Energy) Tabriz Ammayev said during the German-Azerbaijani Sustainability Forum “Renewable Energy in Azerbaijan,” Report informs.

He reminded that the main goal is to increase the share of renewable energy sources in electricity production in Azerbaijan to 30% by 2030.

“We believe that Azerbaijan will be able to achieve this goal by 2030,” Ammayev said.

He added that green energy is an important area of ​​Azerbaijan’s activity, including in the issue of restoring the liberated territories.

“We intend to create a sustainable and green liberated region. The experience that we get in this region, we can use throughout Azerbaijan,” Ammayev said.

Azerbaijan has already adopted the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and is currently developing a RES strategy for 2022-2026.

“We hope to have it approved soon,” he added.
