ACWA Power: 'Azerbaijan - key country in its region for us'

Azerbaijan is a key country in the region for ACWA Power, ACWA Power Regional Director Abid Malik said at the Baku Energy Forum, Report informs.

He emphasized that the company is currently working with the Azerbaijani government on a project to build an offshore power station with a capacity of more than 100 MW.

“Considering the high stability and location of Azerbaijan, the country is very important to us. We have been working in this country for some time,” he said.

According to Malik, cooperation in the field of green hydrogen is very important. He also emphasized the importance of projects with SOCAR on decarbonization of petrochemical production.

In May, an executive contract for a 200 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project and a framework contract for a 200 MW onshore wind project were signed between the Energy Ministry of Azerbaijan and ACWA Power.
