Conditions for financing doctoral education abroad unveiled

"Priority specialties for Azerbaijani citizens to have doctoral education abroad have been identified. In accordance with it, training of professionals for local higher education and scientific institutions will be continued," Nijat Mammadli, head of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Education said at a press conference held on the Rules of selection and financing of education of Azerbaijani citizens for doctoral degrees abroad in the framework of the "State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Azerbaijan Republic for 2019-2023".

He said that those, who are currently enrolled and studying in foreign universities, can benefit from the program as well.

The head of the department added that the Azerbaijani State Oil Fund will also pay for the financial part of doctoral education abroad.

It was noted that international experience gained by doctoral students abroad is intended to be applied in the scientific and pedagogical field in Azerbaijan, to achieve the formation of highly qualified human resources based on the needs of the country's labor market and to increase the international competitiveness of local higher education.
