Statistics of international students in Azerbaijan for last 5 years announced

The number of international students in Azerbaijan for the last five academic years has been announced, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Science and Education.

There were 5,410 people in the 2017-2018 academic year, 6,427 in 2018-2019, 6,615 in 2019-2020, and 6,449 in 2020-2021. In the last 2021-2022 academic year, 7,332 foreigners and stateless persons from 102 countries studied for the first time in Azerbaijan's higher and secondary educational institutions.

Turkiye, Iran, Georgia, Russia, Iraq, Nigeria, Syria, India, Pakistan, and China are among the top ten nationalities of international students in Azerbaijan in the last academic year. Local higher education institutions where foreign students study the most are Azerbaijan Medical University, Nakhchivan State University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Baku State University, Azerbaijan State Economic University, Azerbaijan State Agrarian University, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan Technical University, Khazar University, and ADA University.

Statistical information on the admission of foreign students for the academic year 2022-2023 will be known towards the end of the current year.
